w2 trial.
—THE SECOND TRIAL—
Once again, at 9 AM sharp, a familiar bell tolls to alert the hour. You've become familiar with the flow of things, haven't you? You know what tod o — find your answers before the final ring chimes. Even if you try to avoid it, eventually your legs will bring you towards where you know you'll have to be. The courtroom doors swing open, welcoming.
Come by again, and it looks just like last week. Take your seat on any one you wish, and peruse the table lined with (non-alcoholic) refreshments and snacks. The same sign, promising a lunch break. And of course, your observers, sitting by the jury's seat shuffling about a stack of papers. Ask your questions and they will answer.
The judge's seat shows the same message as it has always done: "GRANT WE THINE JUDGMENT — ABSOLVE THEE THINE GUILT," and the same, strange, incorporeal form stays seated at the high seat, hand resting unto a gavel's handle.

The same blue, translucent field prevents you from leaving freely once you're in. You know the drill, don't you?

Val's body report
He's also talking calmly, like he's discussing a report on statistics for work or something.]
I investigated Valvatorez's body.
It looks like he died of impalement. Whatever got him is round-ish in shape and went cleanly through, even piercing his cape. There was a lot of blood around this wound, which was through his torso.
In addition to that, the big red...screw, I think? That was on his chest before was missing, and in its place was a lightweight industrial screw. I managed to get it out- [He indicates to the screwdriver.] -but there wasn't anything else of note there. Other than the fact that the man already had a screw-hole in his chest. The new screw is about the size of the hole, so it sunk in before I used the screwdriver to remove it.
[He'll add that to the evidence pile soon.]
In addition, he had red stains on his hands, mouth, and chest. I checked and there is some blood in his mouth too, likely due to him coughing up a significant amount of blood. But also something of a similar color that is a bit tacky in texture. I tried to smell it to see what it was, but the scent of blood was too strong. Also interesting to note, the blood on his hands was just smears.
Something I would like to point out is that, when Crowley and I found Valvatorez on Thursday, he was near the fountain and there was mud smeared around. I did find a small amount of water on Valvatorez, but no dirt or mud. Not even on the bottom of his shoes. So be on the lookout for traces of dirt, since none was found on the victim. There was also not enough water to suggest that Valvatorez went into the fountain, but there was still water on his face.
He also had a sardine in his pocket, but that might not be anything out of the ordinary for him.

Not me, that's for certain. I don't think I could even lift one.
It's certainly a weapon I would associate with 'earlier times', almost nobody alive in my year knows how to use a polearm unless it's for special ceremonial purposes. Wars are fought with guns and bombs now.

Was he close enough to the fountain that the water could have come from there?

🌙🌧🦇
The entire courtroom begins to glitch and distort. Everything suddenly pauses, the judge, all of your observers, the scenery in general. And then everything moves again, the ceiling suddenly loses its texture, instead being replaced with a night sky and a beautiful overhead moon (mysterious mod voice "that makes you heterosexual"). Unfortunately, it's quickly taken over by stormclouds that crash and start pouring rain all over everyone.
Additionally, there is a slam of doors from the direction of the dungeon, and a bunch of bats come flying into the courtroom through the double-doors, and flee out into the night sky through the rain.
After all of this happens, everything suddenly glitches again, stutters, pauses, and with a zap, everything is back to normal. "Normal"? Normal. You're all dry, evidence is not wet, the ceiling is back to normal and there are no bats. Weird! ]
