w2 trial.
—THE SECOND TRIAL—
Once again, at 9 AM sharp, a familiar bell tolls to alert the hour. You've become familiar with the flow of things, haven't you? You know what tod o — find your answers before the final ring chimes. Even if you try to avoid it, eventually your legs will bring you towards where you know you'll have to be. The courtroom doors swing open, welcoming.
Come by again, and it looks just like last week. Take your seat on any one you wish, and peruse the table lined with (non-alcoholic) refreshments and snacks. The same sign, promising a lunch break. And of course, your observers, sitting by the jury's seat shuffling about a stack of papers. Ask your questions and they will answer.
The judge's seat shows the same message as it has always done: "GRANT WE THINE JUDGMENT — ABSOLVE THEE THINE GUILT," and the same, strange, incorporeal form stays seated at the high seat, hand resting unto a gavel's handle.

The same blue, translucent field prevents you from leaving freely once you're in. You know the drill, don't you?

ORDER IN THE COURT, PART I
This has been a very unusual conclusion to the study, we must admit. While we are open to seeing if you would rather choose violence and revenge, we have decided that this is somewhat unproductive. As we are all returned, instead, we suppose we would like to ask you to fill out our end-of-experiment survey.
Please note that these are individual and personal questions, so consensus is not strictly needed. Note that we will have more for you to answer, as well as a final verdict.
[ And so they start handing out their papers as well as a pen. The questions read as follows:
2. If you did take drastic measures, such as murder, why?
3. For those who lost out due to the actions of others, how do you feel currently?
4. If you have criticism or suggestions regarding the study, please inform us (optional).
(The last one is definitely for your characters to ICly vent.) ]
These may be filled out on paper or shared orally.

2. Not applicable.
3. I seem to have been a victim of random chance, more than considered a threat in any meaningful way. I would've preferred a proper fight, but the past is nothing more than history. Sins are judged upon death, so I have no reason to pursue revenge.
4. If you are going to leave us in an empty office, there should be more enrichment available than only watching the living. I heard the coffee machine was only recently added? An absolute affront to those who "died". At least offer comparable amenities to those available to the living.
Murder is not generally considered a "social event".

No. I don't even know where to start with explaining why not.
2. If you did take drastic measures, such as murder, why?
N/A
3. For those who lost out due to the actions of others, how do you feel currently?
Seriously, I'd just like to go home already.
4. If you have criticism or suggestions regarding the study, please inform us (optional).
Less killing and less sentencing people to death, please and thank you.]

3. For those who lost out due to the actions of others, how do you feel currently?
question -- how did those buttons work? pressin' a button and summonin' a ton of sharks would be amazing. think of all the crap you could pull with that.
4. If you have criticism or suggestions regarding the study, please inform us (optional).
the hell did this place get so teetotal for? needs more booze. like ten tons the amount of booze. be less stingy with the people you're bringin' in to off each other.

No. My wish was to undo the murders that I've been responsible for in the past. To accomplish that by committing another murder...felt wrong. Although knowing now that none of us are real, and none of us actually died or killed...I don't know.
2. If you did take drastic measures, such as murder, why?
I didn't.
3. For those who lost out due to the actions of others, how do you feel currently?
It's all a simulation, none of us are even real. I don't know. My feelings aren't even real, to be honest.
4. If you have criticism or suggestions regarding the study, please inform us (optional).
I'd prefer there not being murder. Or at least being told that before deciding to join. Isn't that some kind of ethics thing? ]
no subject
No. I don't care to receive any kind of compensation that way. I do things because I want to or I feel it is right or it is what I must do.
2. If you did take drastic measures, such as murder, why?
It did not happen here, but if I take drastic measures, it's because I feel it is necessary.
3. For those who lost out due to the actions of others, how do you feel currently?
I am a little tired, but I am not surprised by any of this.
4. If you have criticism or suggestions regarding the study, please inform us (optional).
Please try to make it so murder isn't possible next time, if this is only to be a study of social behavior. More time at the beach during the summer would make this better. Thank you. ]

1. Were you tempted to take more drastic measures when faced with the threat that you may not receive your promised compensation? Why, or why not?
Not really. I don't need this study's help to get what I want. It's not worth killing innocent people over, and I had no intention to die for killing someone I'm fine murdering.
['If I'm gonna get blown up, I wanna get blown up for my own reasons', she once said. Dying because she killed in this study felt like going against that -- she wasn't 100% certain she could get away with it in a trial, so she didn't rule out she'd get caught, haha. Like hell she wants to risk dying for this study]
2. If you did take drastic measures, such as murder, why?
Executing Royce was my choice because I didn't trust others would be able to pull it through like it should be done. They could get sadistic about it, or not fight hard enough and let him win. Figured doing it myself was the best thing I could do.
['not get sadistic' says the one who let a statue fall on him sword-first. Maya also omits he felt bad for Royce and also the part about how she did consider if perhaps executing Royce would count for a reward under the parameters of this study.]
3. For those who lost out due to the actions of others, how do you feel currently?
Indifferent.
4. If you have criticism or suggestions regarding the study, please inform us (optional).
As far as murderous studies that go against all morality and decency go you did it excellently. If you intended this to not be a study like that, vet better the people you get involved. A few here are in no shape to take part in studies like these.
huge BSD manga spoilers here
Yes, of course I was. My world is currently being overrun by vampires and anyone who could have stopped them is either locked away or has already been turned into a mindless thrall. Without that wish, odds are I wouldn't have even had a 'home' to go back to. "Kill every original vampire and turn the thralls back into humans" is worth killing for, the lives of everyone here are an acceptable sacrifice for the billions that need to be saved in my world.
2. If you did take drastic measures, such as murder, why?
I need to protect my world. Getting that wish meant everything to me. The first week I was content to 'play nice' and earn favor my providing good data, but once murder was on the table then of course I had to kill to increase my chances. And I'm quite fond of Luchino, so his death at the hands of another helped push me towards killing too.
3. For those who lost out due to the actions of others, how do you feel currently?
If that death that happened at trial disqualifies me from getting my wish then I will be quite upset. But being alive means I can go back and try to find another solution to the vampire problem, so not all is lost. The easiest path would have just been removed.
4. If you have criticism or suggestions regarding the study, please inform us (optional).
Find a way to do a study that doesn't involve murder. And make sure you have enough energy to give everyone the promised compensation. You will also need a larger sample size to get accurate results.

1.) I didn't feel any different. I only started to realize what my wish would be by the second week.
2.) I felt compelled after being reminded of a past I'm trying to abandon. I can't apologize for what I've done, so I'd rather those who think of me as a beast to continue believing that. It's easier that way so dying will be a little easier.
3.) I didn't lose anyone of importance, I think.
4.) Encourage others to check their rooms. I kept my sword hidden for two weeks. ]

If "drastic measures" you mean murder, then no. I am a scholar, not some serial killer. At the most I simply reached out to certain others more than I usually would, because I believed "socialization" as the key to getting more of a chance to get my said "compensation". In the end, all I wanted was information, and I wouldn't kill for that, anyways, no matter the context.
2. If you did take drastic measures, such as murder, why?
I didn't murder anyone here. The illusion thing doesn't count I think.
3. For those who lost out due to the actions of others, how do you feel currently?
Exhausted. Simply exhausted.
I met good people here, though. Akeha, Sebastian, Daniil, Bucky, Jeanne, Maya, and so on. I liked our benefactors, especially Mama Puka and Venus, for working well with all of us and helping where they could, even if they were constructs. And especially Ango, yes. He's very special to me.
So, thank you for that, at least.
4. If you have criticism or suggestions regarding the study, please inform us (optional).
[please assume there's a long set of paragraphs going deep into the intellectual aspect of this study and the fallacies of the use of variables and correct controls, like, he's a nerd let him have this]
In short, this could have been designed better, and don't even dare to include murder in another experiment like this. That's horrendous.

1. Were you tempted to take more drastic measures when faced with the threat that you may not receive your promised compensation? Why, or why not?
No, not until I realized others were willing to kill. What happened after that point, happened.
2. If you did take drastic measures, such as murder, why?
██████████████████████████████████████████████
You were wrong. Monsters aren't deserving of love.
3. For those who lost out due to the actions of others, how do you feel currently?
Nothing.

If you could restore the dead with a snap of your fingers all along, then don't wait until seven people have died and crawled their way out of hell to do it.]
